What is Botox
Botulinum Toxin is used to reduce and smooth out wrinkles on your face. Most commonly known Botox, this toxin and is used to relax the facial muscles and tissue that cause the wrinkles.
This can include crows feet around the eyes, "frown lines" between the eyebrows, and forehead wrinkles, sometimes known as furrows. As it turns out, Botox may also act as a preventative treatment that could prevent wrinkles.
The Botox Procedure
The procedure involves injections with very small needles that deliver the Botox to the areas that are being treated. A topical gel or cream can be used as a local anesthetic. The procedure is very quick and usually done in a matter of minutes.
Preparation For Your Procedure
Preparation for your Botox treatment involves avoiding anti-inflamatories leading up to your treatment
There is no real recovery period necessary for Botox treatments. You can be on your way when your treatment if finished. It is recommended that you sleep on your back and it is advisable to avoid wearing makeup for 24 hours.
There is some time needed for the injection sites to heal and in roughly 2 weeks the effects of the Botox treatment will be noticeable. The effects should remain visible for roughly 3-6 months.
